Mark your family calendar because one of Houston’s biggest free outdoor celebrations for kids is returning to Buffalo Bayou Park!
KBR Kids Day will take place Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Water Works in Buffalo Bayou Park. Thousands of children and their families are expected to gather for an afternoon filled with nature, wildlife, music, dancing and hands-on fun.

A Full Day of Family Fun
KBR Kids Day is designed to help families play, explore and learn together while enjoying one of Houston’s most beautiful outdoor spaces. Children can get creative with face painting, meet fascinating animals, discover the natural world through hands-on activities and enjoy live music and dance performances throughout the afternoon.
Planned activities include:
- Hands-on nature activities
- Face painting
- Birds of prey shows
- Wildlife encounters
- Music and dance performances
- A Halloween dance party
- A follow-the-leader music parade
- Activities from museums, cultural organizations and community partners
Halloween costumes are encouraged, so families are invited to arrive dressed for the fun. Food and drinks will also be available to purchase throughout the event.

The entertainment begins even before the main event with a free family bicycle group ride led by Bike Freedom Academy at 10 a.m.
10 a.m. – Family Bicycle Group Ride
11:20 a.m. – Houston Public Library Storytime
11:35 a.m. – Birds of Prey Show
12:20 p.m. – Halloween Dance Party
12:40 p.m. – Follow the Leader Music Parade
12:45 p.m. – Beast Boogie & Friends Hip-Hop Dance Show
1:15 p.m. – Infused Performing Arts
1:40 p.m. – Compañía Folklórica Alegría Mexicana
2:15 p.m. – Birds of Prey Show
Families will also find activities and experiences from organizations including the Houston Zoo, Houston SPCA, Houston Museum of Natural Science, Houston Botanic Garden, Houston Public Library, Houston Rockets, Children’s Museum and many more.
What Families Should Know Before Going
KBR Kids Day is free, but families are encouraged to register in advance. Paid parking will be available across the street at City Lot H, located at 1643 Memorial Drive. Because this is a popular community event, plan to arrive early and allow extra time for parking.
Bring comfortable walking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing and plenty of enthusiasm. Costumes are welcome, and food and drinks will be available for purchase on-site.
